Year Ones Fantastic Indian Blog (written by the children)

In Literacy we have been using lots of describing words in our writing to make sentences more exciting!

We are really enjoying the fantastic Indian topic...

This is our Indian role-play area. We play in here and enjoy the Hindu tent. Hindu ladies wear a Sari. They wear a Bindi. It means that you are married.

Indian ladies wear henna on their hands and feet for special occasions. We have enjoyed practising Henna patterns onto laminated cut out hands. We have been making our own Rangoli patterns. Rangolis are put outside for decoration and to welcome in the Hindu Gods. There are thousands of Hindu Gods. Rangoli are made from natural things like spice, flowers, sand, lentils, rice and lots of lovely, interesting, bright colours.

Gareth came into the classroom to talk to us about India because she was born there. We have been using Google Earth to travel to the country of India. We put on our seatbelts and then fly to India from Bedminster. We are learning about the maps of India and the United Kingdom. We know that the United Kingdom has four countries - England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Because we got all of our sweets in the jar, we chose to have a disco during Golden Time. It was fantastic, great, nice... Miss Welton and Penny chose two of the best dancers.

We also had a funky dance workshop in the Sports Hall with a lady from Sainsburys. It was really fun.
