Recycle, recycle, recycle!!!

We have had a lot of fun this week putting the finishing touches to our fantastic recycled costumes and practising our catwalk modelling.

Miss Welton was very, very pleased with our class assembly. Because the Luckwell value for this term has been Communication, we chose to sing our recycling songs to the rest of the school, to promote our recycling message in a different way. We also showed of some of our incredible recycled costumes to the rest of the school.

We had a fantastic time performing the Recycled Fashion Show. Lots of parents came to watch and some of the teaching staff and Mr Jones. Although some of us were very nervous, we did a fantastic job of walking down the catwalk in time to the music and showing of our costumes. There were so many incredible costumes, from a peacock to a mermaid! As we did such a great job of performing, Miss Welton gave us not one, not two, but three sweets in the jar!!! The jar is now full and so in the new term, we will be having a cinema with popcorn during Golden Time as our treat!

Looking after our planet...

In Science, we have been remembering how much we've learnt about materials and their different 'properties'. Here we are doing a material sort of things that are 'magnetic' and 'non- magnetic'.

We are enjoying our quiet reading and Miss Welton is very pleased with how we sit and quietly look at books.

We had ANOTHER birthday in the class...

Vanessa came into Year One to talk with us about looking after our planet. We talked about all of the endangered animals and the ways that human beings need to look after our planet to protect all of the animals. We did lots of fun activities and thought about all of the ways that we can keep our planet clean.

Here we are curling up into tight balls like Hedgehogs.

You should ALWAYS put your rubbish into a bin otherwise animals and sometimes people are put in danger.

We had fun pretending to be animals. Here is an Orangutan...

... and a Bumble Bee...

... it makes us sad to think that these animals are in danger because we are not looking after the planet as much as we should.

What a busy week! (written by the children)

It was a fun end to last week. Because we got all of our sweets in the jar ('not real ones, only pretend!') we were allowed to bring our bikes and scooters in for Golden Time.

We were so excited to be going to Playspace. It was a very exciting bus ride there ...

... we couldn't wait to play on the equipment and do all of the fun, healthy activities.

"We had so much fun keeping busy, busy, busy while our mums talked and talked and drank lots of drinks!!!"

We all put on pedometers to measure how many steps we took while we were doing our exercise.

At the end of our session at Playspace, the person who had done the most exercise - taken the most footsteps - was given a medal!

Stan, the recycling man, brought in a great big box full of musical instruments made from recycled materials.

We had a good time making a loud noise and practising recycling songs. We have called ourselves the Year One First Fun Cool Band!

We have had a birthday in Year One....

... and we had a mucky time of it making paper from old recycled newspaper and paper from the recycling bin.
