First Week Back

This week we started our new Bikes topic. We have been reading information texts about bikes and forces and motion. On Thursday we investigated the effect of pushes and pulls on different materials.

When you push the sand through the wheel the sails move round.
You can squash the balls but they bounce back quickly.
You can push and pull plasticine into different shapes, but it won't go back to how it was before.

We are looking forward to learning more about the movement of bikes next week.

Last week of term

We had a very busy final week of term. Mr Thwaites came in to help and taught us the All Black's Haka. We then made up our own version.

Debbie from Ashton park came to visit and took us for a gymnastics class.

Here are some pictures of Ava's and Joshkun's fantastic 3D road maps. Well done to everyone for working so hard on this topic.

Another treat - we watched a judo demonstration and were very impressed with the boys skills in throwing and falling safely.

Monday 1 February 2010

Last week we did lots of work on our topic 'Outside my window'. We went on a walk around the local area, taking pictures of attractive and unattractive features. We really liked the park and the fun grafitti on North street. We really didn't like all the dog's mess!

We walked very fast and enjoyed getting our hearts pumping. We were very careful when crossing the roads. We counted about 20!

On Wednesday we made kiwi pavlovas with Mrs Gregory and Mrs Hedges. The Pavlova is a traditional pudding from New Zealand and was named after the Prima ballerina Anna Pavlova.
