being scientists and authors

This week we have been working really hard to write our doodling stories. We imagined we were going to another world like sweet world or dinosaur world and then we wrote about our adventure.

We are trying to get a light to come on. We used 2 wires, a battery and a bulb. To turn the light on we needed to get the metal parts to touch.
We hope everybody has a good holiday. Remember it is PE week the first week back so you will need your PE kits and water bottles all week.

Lots of water

This week we all did some paper weaving. We had to go over and under with the strips of card. It was hard, tricky and confusing, but we all got there in the end.
On Tuesday we all worked outside with a partner to measure capacity. We had to find out how much water different bottles could hold. We all got a little bit wet but luckily it was very sunny.

summer at last!!

At last a sunny week so outside PE!! In PE this week we have been practicing our tennis skills. We have been learning how to keep the ball bouncing by keeping the racket flat and really concentrating. It was hard. In Science we were using a torch to find out which materials let light through and which materials blocked the light completely. We all found it a bit tricky to record this information in a table.
This week we have also been learning how to mix shades of colour, using white. The pictures we did will be on the wall soon.

Finally this week we won the golden lunchbox for great behaviour at lunchtimes. Well done everyone!!

Art competition

We got the golden boot this week because everybody in Y1 walked to school on Wednesday.

We had an art competition. We had to draw a picture of a garden. Miss Linton and Mrs Hicks chose a girl and boy winner. If you want to see the winning pictures they will be in the window of CJ Hole on North Street during the Southville Arts Trail.
