Visitors and fountains

Jessica's Grandad came to show us some seeds and plants. We asked him lots of questions about our topic. We found out that you can get plants to grow fast by putting something over the top to protect them.

On Tuesday the fountain arrived. Some of us saw it being delivered. We all helped to design the fountain when we were in YR. This is all the big and heavy bits but it isn't finished yet.

Easter and weighing

We are busy making photo frames and cups for Easter.

We are busy weighing things. We weighed books, a wooden brick and a car. We used balances and cubes. We had to estimate first.

We are excited because it is Easter, happy Easter to everyone who reads this.

Tag tails and gardening

We are playing tag tails. It is fun. Tag tails is a game where you have to get a tail from the other team. We wanted to see which fruit team was the best in y1 and yr and y2. The winning team in Y1 was bananas. The winning team in Luckwell was strawberries.

On Wednesday and Thursday we made some gardens. It was fun. We had to decorate dishes. In our gardens we had grass, stones, ponds and some people had swings.

The Y1 star of the week was Millie.

French and lots of plants

Last week Julie came from France to our school.
We learnt some French songs and did some French actions to go with them. In assembly today we said au revoir to Julie.

We are growing some cress seeds to check what they need to grow.
Green group tested if seeds need water to grow.
Yellow group tested if seeds would grow in the dark.
Red group tested if the seeds grew better on cotton wool or soil.
Blue group tested if they grew better in hot places or cold places.

We collected some leaves from the playground and looked under a microscope at them. Then we drew them.
